Local furniture manufacturer maintains a showroom at the world’s largest furniture show, held in October and April
Twice a year, the home furnishings world gathers in High Point, NC for the world’s largest furniture show. Often called “fashion week for home furnishings,” High Point Market attracts more than 75,000 salesmen, interior designers, furniture dealers, and furniture manufactures. Here, furniture dealers select the pieces they will display in their showrooms, ultimately determining what furniture adorns most of our homes. For decades, Copeland Furniture of Bradford has maintained a 7,000 square foot showroom at High Point Market.
Armin Driver, of Orford, NH, attended her 37th High Point Market this October. As Copeland Furniture’s design director, Driver compares preparing for the event to organizing a “two-week wedding and a party.” Two weeks before the show, Driver and her team pack their newest prototypes onto a moving truck. The furnishings are then elegantly arranged in vignettes throughout the showroom. From October 13 through October 17, she and Copeland's team of salespeople showed the new furniture to various dealers and designers. If the furniture dealers like pieces, they will order them from Copeland Furniture.
This year, the new Keaton collection was well received, and Copeland Furniture will begin producing the bedroom set, expecting to receive orders soon. The entire process takes months. “There is nothing instant about the furniture business,” remarks Driver.
The process of design, sell, and production cycles endlessly. As some employees prepare to produce the Keaton collection, Copeland’s designers are already drafting new furnishings for April’s High Point Market.
Many furniture dealers were impressed with the Keaton bedroom collection, shown here.
