The mission of TLC Family Resource Center is to promote the optimal health and development of children and families living in Sullivan and Lower Grafton counties. In order to accomplish our mission, TLC employs parent educators who help to strengthen families. The role of the parent educator is to help parents and children develop healthy attachment, create positive parent/child relationships, and achieve their goals using the Growing Great Kids curriculum.
The essential duties of this position include but are not limited to:
·Establish professional relationship with families;
·Make home visits to families to provide specific support designed to promote the development of healthy family relationships;
· Assess family strengths and areas of concern;
·Help families to develop and achieve their goals;
·Write and maintain a current Individualized Family Support Plan for each family;
·Assist families to implement action steps to meet their goals;
·Participate in team meetings and individual/group supervision with clinical supervisor;
·Maintain and submit timely documentation as required by supervisor;
·Work with other agencies that may be involved with the family, such as DCYF and CASA; and
·Participate in initial and ongoing training to enhance effectiveness and knowledge of family support principles and techniques.
