Memorial Day is a time when our thoughts are drawn to both the dark and light of our lives as individuals and as communities. This concert celebrates taking the time to look, from a modern piece with ancient overtones by Abbie Betinis called “Lumen”, to the intense spiritual, “Witness”. We sing about rivers, Monet’s gardens and the natural world, as well as loss and harm. Morten Lauridsen’s “Dirait-on” is self-reflective; “The Way You Look Tonight” by Jerome Kern appreciates a spiffy partner.
We include audiences in the singing, so bring your voice to join the celebration!
Special guest performance by the Lyme Church Bell Choir and Pop-Up Juneberry Children’s Chorus. Guest artists: Tim Cohen, percussion, and Tristan Bellerive, guitar.
Families & inter-generational groups welcome.
$10 suggested donation to support Juneberry Choral Singing at UVMC gratefully accepted at the door.
Food and visiting follow the celebration.
